Meaning and origin of the Styria with coat of arms-Flag:
The flag of the Steiermark has two bars, white and green. In the center is a coat of arms, which is green deposited and a white lion. Above coat of arms you can see a royal, red-white crown with a cross.
The colors, green and white, are derived from the coat of arms. The green coat of arms sign with the silver panther originates from the 13th century. On it is a crown, a prince hat. From the 19th century until 1960 was used the flag with reverse color sequence.
